I'm taking questions from the community in my next few episodes. First up is this common question about sitelinks.

"From a Google search for a client, sometimes I will get their homepage and then a block of their top links or deemed important links. Is there a way to influence that? What is shown and in what order?"

Sadly, there isn't a way to control them. You used to be able to specify in Google Search Console which links you'd like to demote, but you now can't even do this!

Google is deciding which pages should be shown, but I believe your site architecture can have some bearing on this. Look at your site navigation, linked pages from the homepage etc to reverse engineer why the pages are displaying as they are - perhaps you can find some clues in your link architecture and influence the search result in this way?
